Minister Emphasizes Strategic Importance

“You have shown the way on how India will become major electronics manufacturing hub,” said Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw during the announcement of the second tranche of approvals.

The minister outlined three critical success factors for long-term growth:

  • Building strong design teams
  • Ensuring six sigma quality standards
  • Partnering with domestic ‘Swadeshi’ suppliers

“Quality systems will be key part of evaluation process,” Vaishnaw emphasized.

Supply Chain Resilience in Challenging Times

Addressing global economic shifts, the minister noted: “The way geo-politics and geo-economics is emerging, the challenges will be bigger and in those challenging period your ability to have good supply chain control will define your resilience and ability to compete in difficult times.”

He also revealed that a new skilling framework for electronics manufacturing is being developed to support industry growth.

The approved projects cover critical components including camera modules, connectors, multi-layer PCBs, oscillators, and enclosures, addressing key gaps in India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
