ReNew Energy Invests Rs 82,000 Crore in Andhra Pradesh Green Projects

ReNew Energy Global Plc has announced a massive Rs 60,000 crore (USD 6.7 billion) investment in Andhra Pradesh for multiple green energy projects. This brings the company’s total fresh investment in the state to Rs 82,000 crore (USD 9.3 billion), including a previously committed Rs 22,000 crore.

Major Projects Under New Investment

Through four separate MoUs signed with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, ReNew will establish:

  • 6 GW PV ingot-wafer manufacturing plant
  • 2 GW pumped hydro storage project
  • 300 KTPA green ammonia facility
  • 5 GW hybrid projects combining wind-solar and solar-BESS initiatives

The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

Leadership Perspectives

Chief Minister Naidu stated: “Andhra Pradesh is committed to emerging as a national leader in renewable energy, and partners like ReNew play a crucial role in advancing this vision. ReNew’s continued investments reinforce the confidence that global industry leaders have in the state’s policies, infrastructure, and talent.”

Sumant Sinha, Founder and CEO of ReNew, emphasized: “We are bringing a fully integrated clean energy value chain to Andhra Pradesh, from wafer to large-scale renewable projects and storage deployment. This will strengthen domestic supply chains, create high-quality skilled jobs, and advance India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.”

Existing Operations and Future Impact

ReNew already operates 717 MW of wind capacity and 60 MW of solar capacity across 10 sites in Andhra Pradesh. The latest investments are expected to generate over 10,000 jobs and support the state’s ambitious renewable energy targets of 78.5 GW solar, 35 GW wind power, and 25 GWh battery storage capacity.

The previously announced Rs 22,000 crore project in Anantapur district will be one of India’s largest renewable energy installations at a single location, with 2.8 GW generation capacity and 2 GWh battery storage.
