Dwarka Expressway Toll Collection Starts Next Week at Bijwasan

Free Rides End: Dwarka Expressway Toll Collection Begins Next Week

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will start collecting tolls at the Bijwasan Plaza on the Dwarka Expressway next week, ending the period of free travel for commuters.

Key Takeaways

  • Toll collection starts soon at Bijwasan Plaza on Dwarka Expressway
  • One-way car toll: Rs 220; Round trip: Rs 330 (without passes)
  • FASTag annual and local monthly passes available for regular commuters
  • Cab fares likely to increase as toll costs get passed to passengers

Toll Charges and Payment Structure

According to the official notification, car users without a FASTag annual pass or “local monthly pass” will pay Rs 220 for a one-way trip and Rs 330 for a round trip on the 30-km stretch. The Road Transport and Highways Minister conveyed the tolling formula on Tuesday.

The toll charges will apply to vehicles at both Bijwasan Plaza on Dwarka Expressway and Kherki Daula on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

How the Dual Plaza System Works

If a vehicle crosses Bijwasan plaza first, it pays the applicable fee there and won’t be charged at Kherki Daula plaza. However, if it passes Kherki Daula plaza first, it must pay there and then pay the differential amount when crossing Bijwasan Plaza.

FASTag Pass Options for Regular Commuters

Regular commuters can avoid the new rates by opting for FASTag annual passes or monthly passes. A commuter can purchase and renew FASTag annual passes for private vehicles online, which are accepted across all national highway toll plazas.

The monthly local pass is exclusively available to commuters living within a 20-km radius of the toll plaza.

Cab and taxi rides through this toll plaza are expected to become more expensive as vehicles will need to pay the full user fee, which will likely be passed on to customers.
