Foxconn Reports Record Q3 Profit as AI Server Demand Soars

Foxconn Posts Record Q3 Profit as AI Server Demand Surges

Foxconn’s parent company, Hon Hai Precision Industry, has reported its highest-ever third-quarter net profit, driven by soaring global demand for artificial intelligence servers. The Taiwanese manufacturing giant saw net profit jump 17% year-on-year to NT$57.67 billion (approximately $1.86 billion).

Key Takeaways

  • Net profit surged 17% year-on-year to NT$57.67 billion ($1.86 billion)
  • Quarterly profit increased 30% from previous quarter
  • Consolidated sales reached record NT$2.06 trillion ($66.56 billion)
  • AI servers contributed NT$1 trillion to nine-month revenue

Financial Performance Highlights

Foxconn’s consolidated sales grew 11% from the previous year and 14.47% from the previous quarter, hitting a record NT$2.06 trillion. The company attributed this surge to robust demand for AI-related products, particularly servers used in cloud computing and data centers.

Earnings per share stood at NT$4.15 ($0.13), compared to NT$3.55 ($0.11) in the same period last year, reflecting the company’s strong performance amid the accelerating AI boom.

Business Segment Performance

The cloud and networking division emerged as the largest contributor, accounting for 42% of total third-quarter sales, up from 41% in the previous quarter. Smart consumer electronics contributed 37% of total sales, increasing from 35% a quarter ago.

Meanwhile, the computing division’s share fell to 15% from 18%, while electronic components held steady at 6%.

Profitability Improvements

Foxconn’s profitability indicators showed significant improvement across all metrics. The gross margin rose to 6.35%, the highest in five quarters. The operating margin climbed to 3.43%, marking the strongest performance since the first quarter of 2019.

The net margin also improved to 2.8% from 2.66% a year earlier, demonstrating enhanced operational efficiency.

Year-to-Date Performance

In the first nine months of this year, Hon Hai reported total consolidated sales of approximately NT$5.50 trillion ($177.65 billion). AI servers contributed significantly to this figure, generating NT$1 trillion ($32.30 billion) in revenue.

The company emphasized that this trend highlights how artificial intelligence technologies are transforming global manufacturing and creating new revenue streams for the industry.
