Suicide Bombing Outside Islamabad Court Kills 12, Injures 36

A suicide bomber detonated explosives outside a court complex in Islamabad on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 36 others, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Key Details of the Attack

The explosion occurred at 12:39 pm near a police vehicle at the gate of the Islamabad District Judicial Complex in the G-11 area. Minister Naqvi, who visited the blast site, confirmed the attacker attempted to enter the court complex but detonated the explosives after failing to do so.

Among the casualties were security personnel and a lawyer. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though such strikes are typically carried out by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Official Statements and Investigation

“Our first priority is to identify the attacker…Whenever the attacker is identified, we will share with the media,” Naqvi stated during a press briefing.

The minister indicated the investigation is examining multiple factors. “We are linking today’s blast with many factors. Things will be clear in the coming hours. There are several messages of it…,” he said, adding, “I don’t want to say anything at this point, as often the Indians do (start blaming soon after such incidents). We will come with full evidence and details.”
