Enhanced Security Measures
Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma confirmed additional security arrangements. “Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. I would be getting in touch with Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises,” Sharma told PTI.
Red Fort Explosion Incident
The security response follows a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. Officials reported the explosion occurred when a vehicle stopped at a traffic light, igniting fires in several nearby cars.
Terror Module Dismantled
Investigations continue into the blast, which occurred hours after police dismantled an interstate terror module. Authorities seized over 2,900 kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate – a key explosive ingredient. Officials stated the module planned large-scale attacks in Delhi using hundreds of powerful IEDs.
However, police sources have clarified that Monday’s blast near Red Fort is not connected to the earlier arrests in Faridabad related to the recovery of bomb-making substances.
