Tesla Cybertruck Chief Siddhant Awasthi Departs After 8 Years

Tesla’s Cybertruck program lead, Siddhant Awasthi, has departed from the electric vehicle maker after more than eight years. Awasthi announced his exit in a LinkedIn post on Sunday.

He began his career at Tesla as an intern and was instrumental in steering the Cybertruck from its initial concept to large-scale production. His responsibilities included overseeing engineering, product strategy, quality, and supply chain management for the vehicle.

“Eight years ago, when I started as an intern, I never dreamed I’d one day lead the Cybertruck program,” Awasthi wrote.

In July, Awasthi also took over leadership of Tesla’s Model 3 program. His departure comes at a critical time for Tesla, which is facing a general slowdown in electric vehicle sales following record third-quarter deliveries. The Cybertruck, in particular, has been struggling with sales, despite recent discounts offered on inventory vehicles.

According to a U.S. recall filing, a total of 46,096 Cybertrucks were manufactured between the model’s debut in November 2023 and early 2025.
