“The flight, SG670, was carrying more than 188 people (passengers and crew) and landed safely at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport around 11:38 pm. The pilot had declared a full emergency as a precaution,” said an official.

The pilot detected technical problems with the engine just before beginning descent into Kolkata. Air Traffic Control was immediately notified about the abnormality.

The flight had already experienced significant delays, departing Mumbai at 9:07 pm instead of its scheduled 7:10 pm departure time – a nearly two-hour delay.
