India Sends Emergency Aid to Afghanistan After Devastating Earthquake
India has dispatched emergency relief supplies and essential medicines to earthquake-affected regions in northern Afghanistan, reaffirming its continued humanitarian support.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar personally called Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to convey India’s condolences for the lives lost in the disaster.
“Called FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan this afternoon to convey condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake that struck Balkh, Samangan and Baghlan provinces. Indian relief material for the earthquake-impacted communities is being handed over today. Further supplies of medicines to reach soon,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
Immediate Relief Efforts
The aid is being directed to the northern provinces of Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan, which were severely impacted by the earthquake.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that India has already delivered food and relief items, with additional medical supplies being prepared for immediate delivery.
This rapid response demonstrates India’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Afghan people during times of crisis.
