PM Modi to Attend ASEAN Summit Virtually Due to Deepavali

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate virtually in the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed on Wednesday. The Indian Prime Minister cited ongoing Deepavali celebrations in India as the reason for his virtual attendance.

Diplomatic Exchange Details

“We touched on the organization of the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur at the end of this month. He informed me that he will attend virtually due to the ongoing Deepavali celebrations in India at that time,” Anwar Ibrahim stated.

The Malaysian leader expressed respect for Modi’s decision and extended Deepavali greetings to the Indian Prime Minister and the people of India.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

In a significant development, Anwar Ibrahim revealed he received a phone call from a colleague of PM Modi to discuss elevating Malaysia-India relations to a more strategic and comprehensive level.

“India remains an important partner for Malaysia in the fields of trade and investment, in addition to close cooperation in the sectors of technology, education, and regional security,” Anwar emphasized.

Regional Cooperation Commitment

The Malaysian Prime Minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with India and enhancing ASEAN-India cooperation for regional peace and prosperity.

“Malaysia will remain committed to strengthening Malaysia-India relations and further enhancing ASEAN-India cooperation towards a more peaceful and prosperous region,” he concluded.
