Record Diwali Sales Hit Rs 6.05 Lakh Crore, Showcasing India’s Economic Strength
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced that Diwali 2025 sales reached a historic Rs 6.05 lakh crore, marking the largest festive business in India’s trade history.
Key Highlights
- Total sales: Rs 6.05 lakh crore (goods and services)
- 87% of consumers preferred Indian goods over foreign alternatives
- Sharp decline in demand for Chinese products
- Survey covered 60 major distribution centres nationwide
Harish Garg, President of CAIT’s Chandigarh Chapter, attributed this unprecedented success to GST rate relief and the widespread adoption of Swadeshi practices.
The findings come from CAIT’s detailed research report on Diwali Festival Sales 2025, conducted by its research wing across major distribution centres including Chandigarh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Swadeshi Diwali’ resonated deeply with the public, inspiring both traders and consumers.
