Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Booked in Employee Suicide Case by Bengaluru Police

Bengaluru Police Book Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal in Employee Suicide Case

The Bengaluru police have filed an abetment to suicide case against Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal and senior executive Subrath Kumar Das following the death of employee K Aravind, who allegedly took his own life.

Key Developments

  • Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and senior executive Subrath Kumar Das booked for abetment to suicide
  • 38-year-old employee K Aravind left 28-page death note alleging workplace harassment
  • FIR filed under Section 108 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
  • Alleged financial irregularities of ₹17.46 lakh discovered post-death
  • Ola has challenged FIR in Karnataka High Court

Death Note Reveals Harassment Claims

The case was registered based on a complaint by Aravind’s brother, Ashwin Kannan. Police officials confirmed that the 38-year-old employee left behind a detailed 28-page death note accusing senior Ola executives of workplace harassment and misconduct.

The tragic incident occurred on September 28 when Aravind allegedly consumed poison at his Bengaluru residence. Despite being rushed to a private hospital, he could not be saved.

Financial Irregularities Under Scanner

According to the FIR, financial irregularities amounting to approximately ₹17.46 lakh were discovered following Aravind’s death. The complaint alleges that Ola’s HR department failed to provide satisfactory explanations about certain money transfers to Aravind’s bank account.

A senior investigating officer confirmed that notices have been issued to all individuals named in the FIR. “They have submitted written explanations, and further investigation is in progress,” the officer stated.

Ola’s Response and Legal Challenge

In their official response, an Ola spokesperson expressed deep sadness over Aravind’s demise and extended condolences to his family. The company emphasized that Aravind had never raised any complaints or grievances during his three-and-a-half-year tenure at Ola Electric.

“His role also did not involve any direct interaction with the company’s top management, including the promoter,” the spokesperson clarified.

Ola has legally challenged the FIR registration before the Karnataka High Court, with protective orders already granted in favor of Ola Electric and its officials. The company stated it promptly processed the full and final settlement to support Aravind’s family and continues to cooperate with authorities.
