White House Joins Bluesky with Meme-Filled Post Targeting Trump Critics

White House Joins Bluesky with Meme-Filled Debut Targeting Trump Opponents

The White House officially joined the Bluesky social media platform on Friday, making a splash with an inaugural post featuring a compilation of memes and messages targeting opponents of President Donald Trump.

Key Highlights

  • White House launches official Bluesky account with troll-filled video
  • Post targets liberals with memes from Trump’s first nine months back in office
  • Multiple federal agencies also joined Bluesky on the same day

Content of the Debut Post

The White House’s first Bluesky post included a “sizzle reel” showcasing the administration’s most notable online moments since Trump returned to office. The content specifically appeared designed to provoke liberal critics of the Republican president.

Among the highlights featured were references to the administration’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico and a doctored image of Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero with a fake mustache. The post also included various photos and videos from significant events during Trump’s second term.

“What’s up, Bluesky? We thought you might’ve missed some of our greatest hits, so we put this together for you. Can’t wait to spend more quality time together!” – White House Bluesky account

Bluesky’s Growing Presence

Bluesky has emerged as a popular alternative social media platform, particularly after Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in 2022 prompted many disgruntled users to seek new online spaces. While still smaller than established platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Bluesky reported significant user growth late last year and has developed a reputation for offering a different atmosphere.

Expanding Government Presence

The White House wasn’t alone in establishing a Bluesky presence on Friday. The Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security also launched official accounts on the platform. Vice President JD Vance had previously joined Bluesky in June.

Meanwhile, President Trump continues to primarily use Truth Social as his platform of choice. Trump remains the largest shareholder in Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that owns Truth Social.
