IndiGo Orders 30 Airbus A350-900 Jets to Boost International Routes

IndiGo Doubles Wide-Body Fleet with 30 New Airbus A350 Orders

IndiGo has finalized an order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting purchase rights into firm orders to accelerate its international expansion strategy.

Key Takeaways

  • IndiGo doubles its Airbus A350-900 order from 30 to 60 jets
  • Order conversion supports long-haul international route expansion
  • Aircraft will feature Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines with comprehensive maintenance support

Strategic Fleet Expansion

The Gurugram-based carrier exercised 30 of its 70 purchase rights for Airbus A350-900s, effectively doubling its wide-body aircraft commitment. This move follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Airbus at the IATA AGM in June 2025.

“The conversion of this MoU into a firm order for 30 additional A350-900s is a testament to our confidence in the future of Indian aviation and our strategic partnership with Airbus, further reinforced by the strong start of our long-haul operations,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo.

Enhanced Global Connectivity

The new aircraft will enable IndiGo to connect India with more international destinations, creating additional travel opportunities for passengers across its network.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said: “This milestone reinforces our strong partnership with one of the fastest-growing airlines in the world, and we look forward to supporting their expansion into new long-haul markets.”

Engine Technology and Maintenance

The A350-900 jets will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. IndiGo will implement a TotalCare Agreement with Rolls-Royce, providing 24/7 engine health monitoring, proactive maintenance, and optimized operational performance throughout the fleet’s lifecycle.
