Apple Unveils M5-Powered Vision Pro, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro
Apple has launched significant updates across its product line, introducing new versions of the Vision Pro headset, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro—all powered by the new M5 chip with enhanced AI capabilities.
Key Updates
- Vision Pro headset receives its first major update with M5 chip
- New “dual knit” band improves comfort for Vision Pro
- 14-inch MacBook Pro and iPad Pro also get M5 upgrade
- M5 chip delivers 3.5x AI performance improvement over M4
Vision Pro Enhancements
The Vision Pro headset, first announced in summer 2023 and released in the US early last year, moves from the M2 to the new M5 chip. This upgrade boosts app performance and enables better graphics, particularly for the passthrough view that displays the real world through the headset’s built-in cameras.
Alongside the chip upgrade, Apple will offer a new “dual knit” band designed to provide a more comfortable fit for extended use.
Expanded M5 Deployment
The same M5 chip technology comes to the 14-inch MacBook Pro and new iPad Pro models. Apple specifically highlighted the chip’s artificial intelligence performance, noting it offers up to 3.5 times the AI processing power compared to the previous M4 chip it replaces.
