BANGKOK – American music diva Mariah Carey concluded her Bangkok concert in spectacular fashion, blending musical grandeur with the promotion of Thailand’s soft power.
The Celebration Of Mimi – Live in Bangkok was held on Oct 11 at Impact Challenger Hall, Muang Thong Thani. The pop icon delivered a performance that thrilled her devoted “Lambily” fan base, both Thai and international.
The concert featured a special highlight exclusive to Thailand. During the grand finale, Carey appeared on stage wearing a House of Sirivannavari magenta hand-woven Thai silk couture gown designed by Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana.
The dress was inspired by an archival finale masterpiece from the Princess’ Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show, symbolising the fusion of royal artistry and timeless elegance.
According to the luxury brand, the 56-year-old singer chose to wear Thai silk as a tribute to the country’s craftsmanship.
The gown, in Carey’s favourite hue, was crafted using luk kaew (crystal) patterned silk in luxurious magenta tones supplied by the Support Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, Thailand’s queen mother.
The dress featured a sculpted, floral-inspired back design, and the embroidery shimmered under the stage lights, showcasing intricate beadwork by artisans from the Sirivannavari Atelier and Academy, the brand’s haute couture embroidery studio.
Inspired by the dok rak (crown flower) traditionally used in Thai garlands, the design incorporated thousands of crystals, sequins and glass beads, intricately hand-embroidered over hundreds of hours to create a radiant three-dimensional effect.
The gown also had Carey’s initials MC stitched into the design.
She also wore a one-of-a-kind necklace from Sirivannavari x Beauty Gems.
The piece featured a rare Padparadscha sapphire, a pink lotus-hued gemstone cut in a teardrop shape, surrounded by a cascade of diamonds in round and square cuts, valued at more than 100 million baht (S$4 million). THE NATION/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
