Foxconn Announces Massive ₹15,000 Crore Investment in Tamil Nadu
Foxconn, the key manufacturer of Apple iPhones in India, will invest ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, creating 14,000 high-value jobs in the state. This major expansion aims to boost advanced technology manufacturing and shift focus from assembly to full-scale production and innovation.
Key Job Creation Details
According to Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency, the project will generate 14,000 employment opportunities. These positions will specifically target engineering graduates and skilled youth, focusing on high-value roles.
Establishment of Foxconn Desk
Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister TRB Rajaa announced that Foxconn will create India’s first “Foxconn Desk” at Guidance Tamil Nadu. This dedicated coordination point will fast-track projects and facilitate the company’s next phase of operations.
The minister stated that Foxconn will bring value-added manufacturing, R&D integration, and AI-led advanced technology operations to Tamil Nadu. “Yet another major boost for Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector as Honourable @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal met with Foxconn’s India Representative, Mr. Robert Wu, to reaffirm their deep trust in Tamil Nadu with substantial investment commitments,” he wrote on X.
Strategic Shift in Operations
The investment marks Foxconn’s strategic move from smartphone assembly to comprehensive production and innovation. The Foxconn Desk will support this transition through “seamless facilitation and mission-mode execution,” according to the minister’s statement.
The announcement follows a meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and a Foxconn delegation led by Robert Wu, the company’s India Representative and senior global executive.
