Taiwanese manufacturing giant Foxconn will invest ₹15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, creating 14,000 high-value engineering jobs in what state industries minister TRB Rajaa calls the “largest-ever commitment for engineering jobs” in the state.

The announcement came after Foxconn’s India representative Robert Wu met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to reaffirm the company’s substantial investment plans.

Advanced Manufacturing Expansion

Foxconn plans to bring its next phase of value-added manufacturing, R&D integration, and AI-driven advanced technology operations to Tamil Nadu. Minister Rajaa stated this investment will significantly boost the state’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector.

Dedicated Support Infrastructure

Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, Guidance, will establish the first-ever Foxconn Desk in India to ensure smooth project facilitation and mission-mode execution. Rajaa described this as a step toward “Dravidian Model 2.0.”

Regional Expansion Strategy

The Tamil Nadu announcement follows Robert Wu’s meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, where they discussed strengthening Foxconn’s presence in Karnataka and exploring new manufacturing and technology collaboration opportunities.

Foxconn currently operates in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, with these new plans signaling a major expansion of its footprint in India.
