TCS to Create 5,000 UK Jobs with New London AI Innovation Hub

TCS Announces Major UK Expansion with 5,000 New Jobs and AI Hub

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will create 5,000 new jobs in the United Kingdom over the next three years, accompanied by the launch of a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) experience zone and design studio in London.

Key Takeaways

  • TCS to create 5,000 UK jobs within three years
  • New London AI experience zone marks second global innovation hub after New York
  • Company contributed £3.3 billion to UK economy in FY24

This expansion underscores TCS’s long-standing UK partnership and commitment to innovation investment. The IT major, India’s largest, aims to deepen its talent development initiatives through this move.

London Innovation Hub

The new London studio serves as TCS’s second global innovation center following New York. It will function as a collaborative space for clients, drawing expertise from academia, startups, and enterprises across the UK.

“The UK is TCS’ second-largest market globally, making it central to our investment strategy around the world,” Vinay Singhvi, head of TCS UK & Ireland, said. “The AI experience zone will further help to foster innovation in collaboration with businesses throughout the UK, helping in maintaining an edge in artificial intelligence and new technologies.”

Strengthening India-UK Relations

The announcement followed British Prime Minister Kier Starmer’s two-day India visit focused on boosting bilateral trade. A substantial UK business delegation accompanied the Prime Minister during the trip.

An Oxford Economics report released during the visit highlighted TCS’s substantial economic impact. The company contributed £3.3 billion to the UK economy and supported £780 million in tax contributions in FY24 – equivalent to 20,400 teachers’ salaries. TCS currently supports 42,700 jobs across 19 UK locations.

Nick Mayes, principal analyst at PAC, noted that TCS’s latest investment “reinforces its position as the leading provider of critical digital services in the UK”.
