NFL Trade Rumors: Bills fans hoping for Maxx Crosby blockbuster receive surprising update after Buffalo’s DJ Moore deal

Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.

The Buffalo Bills have made their early offseason statement, and it came on the offensive side of the ball. After striking a headline-grabbing deal to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, the franchise appeared ready to give quarterback Josh Allen another reliable target. But while that move strengthened the passing attack, questions quickly followed about whether Buffalo might make a similar splash on defense.

Those questions largely centered on Maxx Crosby, the relentless edge rusher from the Las Vegas Raiders whose name has circulated heavily in trade chatter. For a brief moment, Buffalo seemed like a logical landing spot. Yet the latest reporting suggests the Bills have shifted their focus, leaving the Crosby sweepstakes to the rest of the league.

Buffalo Bills and Maxx Crosby trade rumors fade as team steps back from crowded market

During a Thursday appearance on the The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter offered the clearest sign yet that Buffalo Bills is no longer pursuing the star pass rusher.

The trade market around Crosby has been fluid in recent weeks, especially after the Bills’ aggressive move for Moore, but Schefter indicated the team has effectively stepped away.

That development narrows the field slightly, though the competition remains fierce. Around the league, front offices continue to explore the possibility of prying Crosby away from Las Vegas. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, interest in the defensive standout stretches well beyond a handful of teams.

Speaking earlier this week on the The Rich Eisen Show, Breer described just how wide the market could be.

“Obviously, calls have come in (for Crosby),” Breer said. “I think a quarter of the league, if not more, is interested in trading for him at various prices, and now the question is, which way this goes.”

That level of interest makes any potential deal complicated. When multiple teams are circling, prices rarely stay reasonable for long.

The financial and draft capital involved could also explain Buffalo’s decision to step back. ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler previously noted that the Raiders would expect a significant return if they ever moved their defensive centerpiece.

“It’s somewhat quiet on the Maxx Crosby front,” Fowler reported. “This is a layered discussion because a team source said a few weeks ago that Crosby’s chances of returning were relatively small. But he doesn’t plan to request a trade. He’s tight with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and he probably wouldn’t garner a Micah Parsons-like trade package (two firsts and a key player).”

That last detail matters. Even if Crosby does not command the type of blockbuster haul associated with Micah Parsons, the cost would still be steep. For Buffalo, which has already spent assets to upgrade its offense, committing further draft capital may not align with its broader roster strategy.

For now, the Bills appear content with the splash they already made. The Crosby market remains alive, but Buffalo no longer seems eager to chase it.
