Trump says reports claiming top General opposes war with Iran are 100% incorrect

US President Donald Trump has brushed aside reports that his top military adviser warned against launching military action against Iran, calling the claims “100% incorrect” and insisting there is no rift within his administration.

In a post on Truth Social, the US president rejected suggestions that General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has advised against military action targeting Tehran.

“Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine is against us going to War with Iran,” Trump wrote. “The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect.”

Axios first reported that Caine had taken a more cautious tone in internal discussions about Iran compared to earlier operations, including a January raid in Venezuela. The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post also reported that Caine and other Pentagon officials had raised concerns about risks, including potential US casualties and munitions stockpiles strained by support for Ukraine and Israel.

None of the reports said Caine opposed military action outright. Trump, however, insisted that his top general is aligned with the administration’s stance.

“General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won,” Trump wrote.

He praised Caine as a “Great Fighter” who “represents the Most Powerful Military anywhere in the World”.

The president added, “He has not spoken of not doing Iran, or even the fake limited strikes that I have been reading about, he only knows one thing, how to WIN and, if he is told to do so, he will be leading the pack.”

Trump also emphasised that the ultimate call rests with him only.

“I am the one that makes the decision,” he wrote. “I would rather have a Deal than not but, if we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country.”

The comments come amid heightened tensions and speculation over potential US military options. Meanwhile, On Monday, the State Department announced that non-emergency personnel and family members should be evacuated from the US Embassy in Lebanon.
