Brazil offers scholarships to foreign PG students for 2026 intake, apply by Dec 30

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Brazil, has invited applications for the PEC-PG (Student Exchange Programme for Graduate Students) for the academic year 2026.

The programme offers scholarships to international students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies at recognised Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Under the PEC-PG 2026 programme, students can apply for full master’s, full doctorate, or sandwich doctoral programmes. These courses will allow international scholars to study in Brazil and engage in advanced research across a variety of disciplines.

APPLICATION SCHEDULE

  • Publication of available positions: September 30, 2025
  • Application registration period: October 1 to December 30, 2025 (till 5:00 p.m. Braslia time / 1:30 p.m. IST)
  • Publication of final results: April 30, 2026
  • Commencement of studies in Brazil: August 2026

Applicants are required to register and submit their applications through the CAPES electronic portal available at https://inscricao.capes.gov.br/. Queries related to the scholarship can be sent to the email address inscricao.pecpg@capes.gov.br.

SELECTION PROCESS

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has clarified that it plays no role in the nomination or selection of candidates.

The entire selection process, evaluation, and final approval will be conducted by the donor country, Brazil.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The PEC-PG, also known as the Programa de Estudantes-Convnio de Pós-Graduao, is a long-standing initiative by the Brazilian government aimed at strengthening educational cooperation with developing nations.

It supports international students who wish to undertake in-person postgraduate programmes in Brazilian universities, promoting cultural exchange and academic collaboration.

Through this initiative, Brazil continues to enhance global academic partnerships and encourage the mobility of students and researchers from various countries.
