Spotify Launches 4 New Premium Plans in India with AI Features

Key Takeaways

  • Spotify launches four new premium plans in India: Lite, Standard, Student, and Platinum.
  • Prices range from Rs. 99 to Rs. 299 per month, catering to different user needs.
  • New AI features like AI DJ and AI Playlist Creation are included in the top-tier Platinum plan.

Spotify has introduced a refreshed premium subscription lineup in India, featuring four new plans tailored for different types of listeners. The new tiers—Premium Lite, Premium Standard, Premium Student, and Premium Platinum—offer varying levels of audio quality, features, and pricing.

Spotify Premium Lite and Standard Plans

The Premium Lite plan is the most affordable option at Rs. 139 per month. It provides ad-free streaming and high-quality audio up to 160 kbps for a single account.

The Premium Standard plan costs Rs. 199 per month and offers very high audio quality (up to 320 kbps), offline downloads, and ad-free streaming. New users can enjoy this plan for two months at the same price.

Both Lite and Standard plans are designed for users seeking simple, uninterrupted music access.

Affordable Spotify Premium Student Plan

Spotify continues to serve India’s large student population with its Premium Student plan. Available only to verified students from accredited institutions, it costs Rs. 99 for the first two months and Rs. 99 per month thereafter. This plan includes all the benefits of the Standard plan, offering excellent value.

Feature-Rich Spotify Premium Platinum Plan

The Premium Platinum plan, priced at Rs. 299 per month, is the most advanced tier. It supports up to three accounts, enables offline downloads, and offers lossless audio quality up to 44.1 kHz. This plan also includes Spotify’s latest AI-driven tools:

  • AI DJ
  • AI Playlist Creation
  • Mix Your Playlists
  • DJ Software Connectivity

New AI Audiobooks Feature Announced

Spotify has also announced the ‘Audiobooks Recaps’ feature, though it is currently not available in India. This AI-powered feature, currently in beta for select English audiobooks on iOS, allows users to play a summary of audiobook sections they’ve already heard—without spoilers. Publishers can opt in from December 13, with a wider rollout planned soon.
