Working on an idea and converting it into a ready-to-share file was a big and time-consuming task. It involved several steps like copying, pasting, and reformatting. Now, a new feature in Google Gemini is reducing that entire process to just a prompt. The tech giant has rolled out a new feature in Gemini that enables users to create PDFs, Microsoft Word and Excel files, as well as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more directly within their chat. For instance, now, you can create your CV within the Gemini app and instantly convert it into a complete file without leaving the app.
The feature also enables users to also directly download the file to their device or export it to Drive, making sharing the files even easier. The feature is now available to all Gemini app users globally.
Highlighting the update, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in an X post, “You can now ask Gemini to create Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDFs, and more directly in your chat. No more copying, pasting, or reformatting, just prompt and download.”
Subscription growth continues
This feature rollout on Gemini comes at a time when Google is seeing steady growth in its subscription business. The company added 25 million paid subscriptions in the last quarter, its parent company Alphabet said in its earnings report, taking the total to 350 million, up from 325 million in the previous quarter.
Sharing more details, Sundar Pichai said, “Our AI investments and full stack approach are lighting up every part of the business: Search queries are at an all-time high with AI continuing to drive usage. Google Cloud revenue grew 63 per cent, Gemini models have incredible momentum, and it was our strongest quarter ever for consumer AI subs, driven by Gemini app,” in an X post while announcing Q1 earnings.
Limited data on Gemini usage
Despite this growth, the earnings report did not share specific numbers for Gemini subscribers or its monthly active users. However, advanced Gemini features are now bundled with Google One plans, which are continuing to grow.
Because of the lack of clear data, it is believed that Gemini may still have over 750 million users, similar to the previous quarter. At the same time, Google pointed to strong growth in the enterprise segment, reporting a 40 per cent increase in paid monthly active users, although it did not provide exact figures.
