AI on autorickshaw, Whisper tries to woo coders stuck in Bengaluru traffic

AI dictation tool Wispr Flow has entered India and instead of a typical splashy digital campaign, the company is making its presence felt through autos. Yes the company has decided to make the three wheelers its mode of advertising. Wispr has rolled out a fleet of around 100 autorickshaws wrapped in branding for its AI-powered dictation too.

And this idea according to the CEO is to keep it local and use the terrific traffic time to catch the attention of the commuters. “US tech companies are burning millions on digital ads to reach Bengaluru. but the entire city is sitting in traffic, looking at the back of an auto rickshaw. not their phones,” wrote CEO Tanay Kothari in a post on X explaining the idea behind the autorickshaws advertising.

“So for Wisprflow’s launch in India, we did something different. This week, 100 autos are driving through Bangalore wrapped in Wispr flow branding.”

Now, we’re not new to seeing ads behind autorickshaws. However, it’s for the first time a US-based AI company decided to lean heavily into local three-wheeled public transport to make its presence felt. Turning everyday Bengaluru commutes into a moving billboard for its tech.

Wispr AI enters India

Meanwhile, Wispr AI is formally expanding its presence in India, a market that according to the company has already shown strong organic adoption. The company has set up operations in Bengaluru, focusing on growth and engineering, with the aim of tailoring both the product and overall experience for Indian users. This includes improving performance in noisy environments and strengthening support for multilingual usage patterns.

What is Wispr Flow?

At the centre of this push is Wispr AI’s core product, Wispr Flow, an AI-powered voice dictation tool designed to convert natural speech into clean, structured text in real time. Unlike conventional dictation software, it understands how people actually speak. It can filter out filler words like “um” and “uh,” detect pauses for punctuation, and even correct mid-sentence changes—so if you say, “let’s meet at 2 actually 3,” it automatically outputs “let’s meet at 3.”

The tool works across desktop and mobile phones and can be integrated into everyday apps, including email, messaging platforms, and even coding environments, making it particularly useful for professionals and developers.

For India, the company is placing a strong emphasis on language diversity. Wispr Flow supports over 100 languages, including Hinglish and several regional languages, making it well-suited to a market where users frequently switch between languages in conversation. The company has also introduced localised pricing of India users, making its Pro plan significantly more affordable compared to global rates in a bid to attract developers, students, and working professionals.
