Stefon Diggs lawsuits explained: What we know about claims from ex-girlfriend and chef

Veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs has recently found himself in the headlines not just for football but also for legal matters involving two separate cases. The former New England Patriots star has been dealing with allegations from a former personal chef and a paternity dispute with an ex-girlfriend.

Both situations have unfolded over the past year and have drawn attention due to Diggs’ high profile in the National Football League. While one case remains ongoing, the other has reportedly been resolved after legal proceedings and a paternity test.

Assault allegation involving former chef

One of the most serious problems with Diggs is that he is facing criminal charges because of a fight he had with his former personal chef in December 2025.

According to court documents, the chef claimed that the incident occurred during an argument about money she said Diggs owed her for work she performed.

She alleged that during the confrontation, Diggs slapped her and attempted to choke her by placing his elbow around her neck, which reportedly left her struggling to breathe.

The incident was reported to police roughly two weeks after it allegedly occurred. Authorities later filed charges against the wide receiver, including felony strangulation and assault.

In February 2026, Diggs went to court in Massachusetts and officially said he was not guilty of the charges.

His lawyers have strenuously disputed the claims, saying that they are baseless and come from a money dispute between the player and the employee.

Diggs’ attorney has maintained that the NFL star is innocent and expressed confidence that the evidence will present a different version of events. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 1, where further developments in the case are expected.

Paternity lawsuit from ex-girlfriend

Diggs was engaged in a civil lawsuit with his ex-partner Aileen Lopera, who wanted the court to recognize him as the father and give him child support.

In 2024, while she was pregnant, Lopera filed the action and asked the court for legal and physical custody of their kid as well as money from Diggs to help with pregnancy and birth-related costs. Diggs asked for a genetic test to see if he was the child’s father at the time.

The matter took a significant turn earlier this year after Lopera’s legal team confirmed that a DNA test established Diggs as the father of her daughter, Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera.

After the confirmation, Lopera filed papers in January 2026 to drop the action, showing that the two sides had worked things out on their own. Later, her lawyer said that the goal was for both parents to work together to raise the child.

For now, the paternity dispute appears to be settled, while the criminal case involving the alleged assault remains ongoing and will proceed through the court system in the coming months.
