MBA graduates: Leading from the front

MBA graduates continue to dominate India’s employability landscape in 2025. Their employability rate has climbed from 36.44% in 2019 to 78% this year, mirroring how business education has evolved alongside the demand for skilled management talent.

The 2025 India Skills report attributes this rise to the growing demand for business and management talent across sectors, especially in areas such as e-commerce, customer success, and analytics-driven roles.

For recruiters, MBA graduates offer analytical precision and managerial focus. They bridge strategy and execution and are preferred for roles in consulting, finance, and technology management.

B.Tech graduates: Engineering the future

B.Tech graduates have also strengthened their position. Their employability has risen from 57.09% in 2019 to 71.50% in 2025.

Technical skill, combined with flexibility in new areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and web development, keeps them in demand at both start-ups and large firms.

The

report notes that investing in upskilling areas like Power BI, Tableau, and React can further enhance employability for technical graduates. With industries shifting toward automation, cloud computing, and connected systems, B. Tech graduates remain central to India’s position as a global hub for technology and innovation.

MCA graduates: Tech expertise in high demand

MCA graduates join B.Tech and MBA as the top three streams in employability for 2025, reaching 71%.Their growth has been significant over the years, from 43.10% in 2019 to 71% in 2025, reflecting rising demand for IT and software expertise.

Unlike B.Tech graduates, who span broader engineering disciplines, MCA talent typically specialises in software development, system design, and programming, but they also adapt to emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

This trend underscores the growing value of versatile IT skills in India’s workforce.

Who’s close behind: Expanding the talent map

Other streams are narrowing the gap. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) graduates now have 58% employability, showing strength in analytics, data science, and research.Bachelor of Arts (B.Arts) stands at 54%, Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) at 55%, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma) at 56%, Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at 41%, and Polytechnic at 29%.

Employability is broadening across academic backgrounds rather than staying concentrated in a few.

The report also underscores that the synergy of technology and human skills is becoming more important. As industries grow in areas like cloud computing, automation, and cybersecurity, skills such as communication, empathy, and ethics remain equally relevant, ensuring technology and human capability progress together.

Takeaway from India Skills Report 2025

The report identifies three key trends shaping employability in India today:

  • Blending technical and business skills helps. Graduates who combine expertise with problem-solving and communication perform best.

  • Upskilling is vital. Lower employability in some fields points to emerging skill gaps and the need for focused training.

  • Employability is measurable. Tests like the GET give students and employers a clearer sense of readiness, shaping both hiring and learning.

Looking ahead

The report shows that India’s talent base is maturing. MBA and B.Tech graduates lead, but other streams are advancing fast. For students, educators, and companies, the challenge is clear: Build skills that match industry needs and remain adaptable.

As

India Skills Report 2025 demonstrates, employability is dynamic and measurable. The future of work belongs to those who can learn quickly, apply knowledge, and deliver from day one.
