Sophie Turner retches after kissing Kit Harington during The Dreadful shoot. Video

Actors Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, best known for playing siblings on Game of Thrones, were left visibly uncomfortable after sharing an on-screen kiss while shooting their upcoming horror film The Dreadful.

A behind-the-scenes video shared by Entertainment Tonight shows Turner and Harington filming a kissing scene before immediately gagging and pretending to retch once the director called “cut”. The moment, which sparked laughter among the crew, has since gone viral, drawing attention to the unusual transition from sibling roles to romantic leads.

The Dreadful, directed by Natasha Kermani, is scheduled to release in select theatres and on digital platforms on February 20.

Here’s the viral clip:

Turner has previously acknowledged that the shift was awkward for both the actors and longtime fans of Game of Thrones. Speaking to Vogue in July 2025, she described the experience as “really weird for all of us,” referring to the reaction to seeing her and Harington as lovers on screen.

The actor also addressed the discomfort during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in August 2025, recalling that she and Harington were “both retching” between takes. Turner said that reading the script ahead of filming made the situation even more surreal, joking that it was filled with repeated romantic cues. “I was like, ‘Oh shoot that’s my brother,’” she said.

Harington echoed the awkwardness in an interview with E! News in November 2025, noting that the challenges were not limited to their shared on-screen history. He revealed that he had to stand on an apple box to film the kissing scenes because Turner is taller than him. “It was slightly embarrassing,” he said, adding that his “dignity was pretty intact” otherwise.

Turner had earlier revealed that she personally recommended Harington for the role. Speaking to The Times in September 2024, she said she felt the project would be incomplete without him. “You can’t not have Kit,” she said, adding that the film’s period setting felt familiar to their Game of Thrones days.

The Dreadful also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain and Jonathan Howard. The cast has remained close since Game of Thrones concluded in 2019, making the reunion both nostalgic and, as the viral clip shows, unmistakably awkward.
