Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and Leica cameras: Here’s all you need to know

The standout feature on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its 1-inch LOFIC main camera sensor—a first for Xiaomi—called the Light Fusion 1050L. The phone also packs a 200MP Leica telephoto with a 75–100mm mechanical optical zoom, which can stretch to a 400mm equivalent using sensor crop. Video shooters get Dolby Vision and ACES Log recording at up to 4K 120fps on both the main and telephoto lenses.

Despite all that imaging hardware, the Ultra measures just 8. 29mm thick and weighs 218. 4g, making it the thinnest and lightest Ultra model Xiaomi has ever made.

What makes the standard Xiaomi 17 worth a look

The regular Xiaomi 17 isn’t a slouch either. It uses the Light Fusion 950 sensor (1/1. 31-inch) for its main camera and pairs it with a Leica 60mm floating telephoto lens that handles everything from portrait shots to 10cm macro. There’s also a new 50MP front camera with improved autofocus. At 8. 06mm thick and 191g, it’s noticeably compact for a phone packing a 6,330mAh battery—actually larger than the Ultra’s 6,000mAh cell. Charging tops out at 100W wired and 50W wireless.

Both phones sport custom OLED panels hitting 3,500 nits peak brightness, 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rates, and DC dimming. The Ultra gets Xiaomi’s new HyperRGB subpixel layout on its 6.9-inch display, while the standard model keeps things tight with a 6.3-inch screen and 1.18mm bezels.

Leica Leitzphone and new accessories round out the lineup

Alongside the main duo, Xiaomi also introduced the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi at €1,999 (around Rs 2,14,900). Built to celebrate Leica’s 100th anniversary, it shares the Ultra’s camera hardware but wraps it in a nickel-anodized aluminum body and adds a physical Leica Camera Ring—a knurled dial that mimics the feel of a traditional zoom ring. It also features a Leica Essential mode that recreates the look of classic cameras like the Leica M9 and M3.

For photo enthusiasts, there’s a Photography Kit (€99.99) with a two-stage shutter button and wrist strap, and a Photography Kit Pro (€199.99) that adds a PU leather grip, a built-in 2,000mAh battery, and a detachable shutter button. Both are designed to turn the Ultra into something closer to a dedicated camera.

Xiaomi 17 buyers in eligible markets also get bundled trial subscriptions—three months of Google AI Pro, three months of YouTube Premium, and four months of Spotify Premium—at no extra cost.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi 17 are set to launch in India on February 11.
