Fresh explosions rock Dubai, Doha as Iran warns of ‘most ferocious’ operation against US and Israel

Fresh explosions have been reported in Dubai and Doha hours after Iran vowed its “most ferocious” operation against US and Israeli bases in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and members of his family in joint US–Israeli strikes.

Reuters reported multiple loud blasts in Dubai. According to Al Jazeera, four people were injured when an Iranian drone struck Dubai International Airport, reportedly causing damage inside a passenger terminal.

The broadcaster, citing the media office of Dubai Airports, said emergency response teams were immediately deployed in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, residents in Doha said at least 11 explosions were heard in the skies above the city.

Iran has also attacked the US military base in Erbil, Iraq. A drone crashed near Erbil International Airport, sending up a large plume of smoke, local media reported. No immediate casualties have been confirmed.

Images aired on Sunday by Press TV showed a new strike targeting a US base in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as regional tensions continue to escalate.

According to Al Jazeera, emergency air-raid sirens were heard sounding across Kuwait.

Earlier, Bahrain Interior Ministry reported that a drone struck Bahrain International Airport amid Iran’s retaliation following US-Israeli strikes. The attack caused material damage but no injuries, with authorities quickly securing the area and assessing the situation.

In posts on X, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior confirmed that the airport was struck and that emergency protocols were activated. The ministry said, “Targeting of Bahrain International Airport with a drone, resulting in material damage without loss of life, at a time when the relevant authorities are initiating procedures to secure the site.”

The attacks have triggered widespread disruption across the region, with over 700 flights canceled across Gulf countries and the Middle East, and airspace above Dubai appearing nearly empty, according to flight tracking data.

Khamenei, along with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, reportedly died in Tehran during the strikes, intensifying fears of a broader regional conflict.
