Kate Middleton repeats dreamy Gucci gown for BAFTA 2026

Trust the UK royals to make it to the red carpet with glamour, poise, and meaning. Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived at the BAFTA Film Awards 2026 in coordinated ensembles.

As President of BAFTA, Prince William is a familiar presence at the annual ceremony. The Princess of Wales, meanwhile, made a statement not with something new, but with a two-tone Gucci gown, first seen in 2019.

The evening also marked a special moment, as she returned to the event after a hiatus since 2023 while undergoing cancer treatment.

Held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards began on a high-fashion note, with celebrities from across the globe delivering striking red-carpet moments. Amid the sea of bespoke creations and fresh-off-the-runway looks, the concept of repeating clothes was cemented yet again, and very royally so.

Kate Middleton’s BAFTA 2026 gown

The Princess of Wales looked dreamy in Gucci’s dual-tone pink gown. The flowing layers in shades of raspberry, blush, and light mauve moved effortlessly as she walked, while a rich burgundy velvet belt defined her waist and added depth to the soft palette.

When she first wore the gown to the 100 Women in Finance gala at London’s V and A Museum, she had styled it with classic pumps and a half-up hairstyle that highlighted her earrings.

This time, the overall feel was softer and more relaxed.

According to Marie Claire, Middleton elevated the look with heirloom sparkle, styling her gown with Queen Mary’s Art Deco choker bracelet and Queen Elizabeth’s Greville diamond chandelier earrings. As for her hair, she let it cascade in soft curls. A coordinating velvet clutch echoed the waist detail, tying the ensemble together with thoughtful precision.

Romantic without being overly ornate, the look felt perfectly suited for an elegant evening out alongside her husband.

Meanwhile, Prince William opted for a burgundy jacket matching his wife’s belt shade.

The last time the royal couple attended the BAFTAs together was in 2023, when the Princess of Wales delivered one of her most memorable red-carpet moments. She chose an ethereal white Alexander McQueen gown with an asymmetric neckline. Elevating the look further, Kate paired the ensemble with striking black gloves, a bold styling choice that added contrast and a touch of old-world glamour.

Meanwhile, on the Indian fashion note, Alia Bhatt made a fashionable appearance in a Marilyn Monroe-inspired Gucci silver sequinned gown with a dramatic fur stole. She was one of the presenters for the night.

Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar kept it classic in coordinated black — he in a sharp tuxedo and she in a sleek satin gown — serving minimalist yet poised red-carpet energy. The appearance was especially significant as Boong, the Manipuri film Akhtar co-produced, was nominated in the Best Children’s & Family Film category.

Turns out, it was truly a night of intent, fashion, and celebration of craft!
