Oliver Rowland is currently third in the Formula E Drivers’ Standings, with three podium finishes in five races. The reigning Formula E World Champion hasn’t lost form this season and was the third-fastest driver in Jeddah, while his protege Arvid Lindblad was there cheering him on from the stands. In a recent interview, Rowland spoke about Lindblad’s support and said he would also be there for him as he prepares to make his Formula 1 debut with Racing Bulls.
Oliver Rowland promises to stand by Arvid Lindblad in first F1 season
Oliver Rowland’s protege, Arvid Lindblad, was in Jeddah to cheer him on from trackside. Speaking to FormulaE. com about his presence, the Nissan driver said, “I mean, I’ve just been there for him (Arvid Lindblad) for a long time. So he asked me if he could come this weekend, and I think he just wanted to come and support me. ”
Lindblad is set to make his Formula 1 debut with Racing Bulls this season. He was previously part of the Red Bull Junior Team before securing his F1 seat. Rowland revealed he plans to support him during the early part of the season.
“I’m obviously doing eight of the first ten Formula 1 races with him, so I’m looking forward to Melbourne. So I think he wanted to just come and show his support for what I do in the same way that I do with him.
But yeah, of course, if I can be there in any capacity, I will be. But yeah, he’s got an important season ahead of him,” Rowland assured.
Oliver Rowland wins third podium of the season in Jeddah
Oliver Rowland finished second in Sao Paulo and secured his second consecutive podium in Mexico City with a third-place finish. After missing out on the podium in Round 3 in Miami and Round 4 in Jeddah, he bounced back with a third-place finish in the second race of the Jeddah doubleheader.
Speaking after his third podium of the season in Round 5, Rowland said, “I was pretty down and disappointed and lacking a bit of confidence after the last couple of races. So I thought it was really important to try and come back with something good. Honestly, I was really happy with the car in the race. I mean, I had a good balance, lacked a little bit of efficiency compared to Antonio Felix da Costa (Round 5 winner), but much better today than yesterday.
”
Formula E will resume with Round 6 in Madrid after a month-long break. The inaugural Madrid E-Prix is scheduled for March 21.
