Nissan Gravite launched at Rs 5.65 lakh, takes on the Triber

Nissan Motor India has launched the all-new Nissan Gravite at an introductory price of Rs 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom), a space created by the Renault Triber. Positioned as the brand’s second mainstream offering after the Nissan Magnite, the Gravite forms the first product under Nissan’s renewed India product offensive and signals the beginning of its next growth phase in the country.

Manufactured locally at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, the Gravite has been designed and engineered with a clear focus on Indian families seeking a practical, flexible and value-driven three-row vehicle.

Design: Familar but with signature Nissan cues

Although it shares its underpinnings with the Triber, the Gravite adopts Nissan’s global design language to carve out a distinct identity. It features a bold Piano Black 2D grille, pronounced wheel arches, muscular body lines and a high ground clearance that lends it a commanding stance.

The front and rear incorporate Nissan’s signature C-shaped design elements, while the LED lighting setup includes signature LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, crystal-edge LED tail lamps and LED fog lamps. Nissan has also introduced distinctive hood branding and unique rear-door badging.

Functional roof rails, wide-opening doors for easier ingress and egress, and a sculpted rear bumper further enhance practicality and presence. The Gravite will be offered in five colour options: Forest Green, Onyx Black, Blade Silver, Storm White and Metallic Grey.

Interior: Modularity at its core

Inside, the Gravite gets a dual-tone cabin theme and a practical dashboard layout focused on space and usability. Nissan is emphasising modular flexibility, with seating configurations ranging from two to seven occupants.

The third-row seats are removable, allowing boot space to expand significantly. Boot capacity stands at:

  • 84 litres in 7-seater configuration
  • 320 litres in 6-seater configuration
  • 625 litres in 5-seater configuration

The second-row seats slide and recline, and the cabin offers generous headroom, shoulder room and knee room across all three rows. Suede and leatherette quilted upholstery, neck supports, a first-row armrest and ergonomic cushioning aim to elevate comfort levels.

The Gravite also claims best-in-class storage solutions, including a cooled lower glovebox, upper glovebox, cooled centre console storage and multiple intelligently placed compartments.

A tropicalised air-conditioning system with dedicated three-row vents and separate second-row controls ensures effective cooling, an important consideration for Indian driving conditions.

Technology and features

At the centre of the dashboard sits a floating 8-inch (20.32 cm) touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Gravite also features a 7-inch (17.78 cm) full digital instrument cluster.

Other highlights include:

  • Wireless charger
  • Auto LED headlamps with follow-me-home function
  • Walk Away Lock (WAL) and Approach Unlock (AUL)
  • Cruise control
  • Push-button start with smart key
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • The steering wheel, shared with the Magnite, features gloss black accents, leatherette wrapping and steering-mounted controls.

Safety: 30+ standard features

Safety has been positioned as a key pillar of the Gravite’s value proposition. Nissan claims over 30 standard safety features, including:

  • Six airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Hill-Start Assist (HSA)
  • Brake Assist System (BAS)
  • ABS with EBD
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts
  • Seatbelt reminders for all occupants

Engine and transmission

Powering the Gravite is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72PS at 6,250rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3,400–3,600rpm.

Transmission options include:

  • 5-speed manual
  • 5-speed AMT

Fuel efficiency is rated at 19.3 kmpl for the manual and 19.6 kmpl for the AMT. As expected, there is no turbo-petrol option at launch, reinforcing its positioning as a practical and budget-focused family mover prioritising efficiency and ease of use.

Limited launch edition

Nissan is also offering a limited-period Launch Edition featuring additional enhancements such as:

  • JBL premium speakers
  • Dual dash cam
  • Air purifier
  • Ambient mood lighting
  • Neck and lumbar cushions
  • C-shaped aero accents
  • Wheel arch aero inserts
  • Drift flow graphics
  • Door visors
  • Chrome beltline and chrome gear bezel

The company has also confirmed that it will introduce a new C-segment SUV, the Tekton, in mid-2026, followed by a 7-seater C-SUV in early 2027 as part of its multi-segment expansion strategy in India.
