Samsung Green Line Display Issue Returns After Software Update

Samsung Green Line Display Issue Returns After Software Update

Samsung smartphone users across India are reporting a resurgence of the notorious green line display issue, with many claiming the problem appeared immediately after installing a recent software update. The defect causes one or multiple bright green lines to appear on screens, sometimes accompanied by complete touchscreen failure.

Key Takeaways

  • Green line display issue reappearing in Samsung devices post-update
  • Service centers charging Rs 11,000-25,000 for display replacements
  • Affects both older and newer devices, including two-month-old phones
  • Samsung yet to issue official statement despite growing complaints

Service Centers Quoting Hefty Repair Bills

Frustrated users report exorbitant repair costs at Samsung service centers. One Galaxy Note 20 Ultra user shared that their device developed 8-9 green lines after an update, with the Agra service center quoting between Rs 21,000 and Rs 25,000 for repair.

Another user claimed repair charges of nearly Rs 16,000 for power-related failures in their Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S21 FE devices. Most affected devices are no longer under warranty, having crossed three years of usage.

Newer Devices Also Affected

The problem isn’t limited to older models. One correspondent reported touchscreen malfunction in their just two-month-old Samsung smartphone. Despite multiple service center visits and software update instructions, the issue persists.

Customer complaints indicate widespread dissatisfaction with service center support, with many users describing staff as unhelpful and uncooperative.

Samsung’s Silence Fuels User Frustration

As complaints continue to mount on social media platforms, Samsung has yet to release an official statement addressing the green line issue. Users are actively tagging the company on X (formerly Twitter), demanding clarity and resolution.

Many customers are calling for a renewed free-screen replacement program similar to the one that ended in September 2025, or a software fix that would resolve the problem without additional charges for premium device owners.
