boAt Scales Domestic Manufacturing to 76% with Localization Push

Key Takeaways

  • boAt’s domestic manufacturing surged from 39.65% in FY23 to 75.83% in Q1 FY26
  • Over 75 million units manufactured in India as of June 30, 2025
  • Joint venture with Dixon Technologies driving production growth
  • 15-20% duty savings expected from component localization

Consumer electronics brand boAt has dramatically scaled up its domestic manufacturing, reaching 76% local production in Q1 FY26 through its India-focused supply chain strategy. The company’s domestic output jumped from 39.65% in FY23 to 75.83% in the first quarter of FY26, with over 75 million units manufactured in India as of June 30, 2025.

Production Growth and JV Partnership

In Q1 FY26 alone, boAt produced 6.36 million units domestically, significantly higher than the 4.42 million units manufactured during the same period last year. The company’s joint venture with Dixon Technologies, Califonix Tech and Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd., has become central to this manufacturing transformation.

“Califonix contributed 37.46% of total units in Q1 FY26, producing 3.19 million units. In FY25, the facility manufactured 13.44 million units, operating at a strong 44.80% utilisation of its 30-million-unit annual capacity, up from 29.03% in FY24,” boAt stated.

All units manufactured at this joint venture facility are produced exclusively for boAt, providing the company with enhanced control over quality, design, and supply chain reliability.

Component-Level Localization Strategy

Beyond assembly operations, boAt’s localization strategy extends deep into critical components including PCBs, batteries, plastics, and straps. The company expects 15-20% duty savings from shifting away from finished-goods imports and is rapidly progressing with its localization pipeline.

Most PCB volumes have already been localized, with trials initiated for additional components. “These steps are designed to compress lead times, strengthen cost competitiveness and accelerate product iteration cycles in fast-moving categories like audio and wearables,” the company explained.

As boAt continues to deepen its domestic manufacturing capabilities, the next phase will focus on automation-led upgrades, design-for-manufacturing excellence, and enhanced audio-quality testing protocols.
