Nvidia Earnings Defy AI Bubble Concerns as Stocks Set to Rally

Key Takeaways

  • Nvidia’s strong earnings signal continued AI boom momentum
  • Stock markets poised for gains with S&P 500 up 1%, Nasdaq 1.5%
  • CEO Jensen Huang dismisses AI bubble concerns
  • $500 billion in chip orders booked for 2025-2026

Nvidia’s impressive earnings report has reignited market optimism, suggesting the artificial intelligence revolution still has substantial growth potential. The chip giant’s performance counters recent concerns about an AI bubble, with stocks poised for significant gains following the announcement.

Market Response and CEO Confidence

Prior to Thursday’s opening bell, the S&P 500 was set to rise about 1%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq climbed 1.5%. Nvidia shares surged more than 4% in after-hours trading after the company reported staggering demand for its Blackwell AI chips, which CEO Jensen Huang described as “off the charts” with another key processor series completely sold out.

Huang directly addressed bubble concerns during an investor call: “There’s been a lot of talk about an AI bubble. From our vantage point, we see something very different.”

Wedbush Securities managing director Dan Ives echoed this sentiment, calling it a “golden quarter for Nvidia with demand massive and well above Street whisper numbers.” Ives added that the results “validate the AI Revolution is still early days and send the bears back into hibernation mode.”

Data Center Boom and Economic Impact

Nvidia’s chips have catalyzed massive data center construction that has supported the U.S. economy during broader slowdowns. According to S&P Global research, more investment is flowing into data centers than all other manufacturing facilities combined.

This spending previously drove major stock indexes to record highs, though recent wobbles in tech stocks had raised questions about whether AI-driven gains were slowing. Nvidia’s latest earnings appear to temporarily ease these concerns.

Substantial Backlog and Circular Deal Concerns

Huang revealed last month that the company has $500 billion in chip orders booked for 2025 and 2026 combined. “This is how much business is on the books. Half a trillion dollars’ worth so far,” he stated at a Washington, D.C. conference.

However, market momentum has been hampered by worries about circular dealing among AI’s major players, where money circulates between companies while individual valuations climb. Nvidia recently joined Microsoft in committing $10 billion to fund AI software provider Anthropic.

Typically, such collaborations boost all involved companies’ stock prices, but neither Nvidia nor Microsoft saw gains from the Anthropic announcement. Deutsche Bank analysts noted this reflects growing investor caution: “It goes to show how sentiment has turned more negative in the last few weeks, with the circular AI deals being treated with increasing caution as the conversation around a potential bubble has gathered pace.”

Market Outlook and Expert Analysis

The critical question remains whether recent market declines represent a temporary pullback or a more permanent shift. For optimistic experts, Nvidia’s performance validates their positive outlook.

Goldman Sachs researchers affirmed, “We think the investment boom has room to run,” noting the broader economy’s resilience should continue supporting stock returns. The AI revolution, according to industry observers, appears far from over despite recent market jitters.
