RV College of Engineering from Bengaluru has won the Model Rocketry segment, while Mumbai’s Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) topped the CanSat category at the prestigious IN-SPACe Model Rocketry and CANSAT India Student Competition 2024-25.

Key Competition Highlights

  • 67 student teams participated in the national finale
  • 37 successful launches conducted during the event
  • Teams evaluated by ISRO and IN-SPACe scientists
  • Top five teams in each category recognized for excellence

National Space Innovation Showcase

The four-day event held in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh was organized by IN-SPACe, ISRO, and the Astronautical Society of India. The competition featured 31 teams in Model Rocketry and 36 teams in the CANSAT category, representing India’s most promising young space innovators.

Thirty-seven launches were successfully conducted – 13 in Model Rocketry and 24 in CANSAT – with teams demonstrating exceptional technical skills and scientific precision. A distinguished jury of scientists from ISRO and IN-SPACe evaluated participants on comprehensive technical parameters assessing both precision and innovation.

Leadership Support for Young Innovators

Prominent figures including Pawan Goenka (Chairman, IN-SPACe), Shashank Mani (MP, Deoria), AK Anil Kumar (Director, ISTRAC), and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla participated in the event and interacted with students.

“For the 67 teams and nearly 600 young minds who participated, this was less about winning and more about building India’s next missions – one ignition point at a time,” said Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe.

Group Captain Shukla inspired participants to push boundaries and nurture curiosity, emphasizing pride in being part of India’s growing space movement. Goenka noted the competition was inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s vision to prepare talent for India’s future space missions.

Deoria MP Shashank Mani expressed immense pride in hosting the national competition, stating it aligned with the “Amrit Prayas” initiative – a 10-year vision to transform the constituency through knowledge, innovation and opportunity.

The event marks a significant milestone in India’s student-led space innovation movement, showcasing the country’s growing pool of young space talent.
