Stock Market Holidays for Diwali 2025: NSE, BSE Closure Details

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed for two days during Diwali 2025 – October 21 for Diwali Laxmi Pujan and October 22 for Diwali Balipratipada. However, Muhurat Trading will be conducted on October 21 despite the trading holiday.

  • Diwali Laxmi Pujan (October 21): Markets CLOSED (Muhurat Trading expected)
  • Diwali Balipratipada (October 22): Markets CLOSED
  • Bhai Dooj (October 23): Markets OPEN
  • Chhath Puja (October 28): Markets OPEN

Muhurat Trading Details

The special Diwali trading session is anticipated to occur between 1:45 PM and 2:45 PM on October 21, though official timings will be confirmed through a circular. This one-hour session allows investors to make token investments for prosperity and good fortune.

Upcoming Trading Holidays

Following the Diwali break, the next scheduled market closures are on November 5 for Prakash Gurpurb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev and December 25 for Christmas. In 2025, NSE and BSE will observe 14 trading holidays in total, with 10 already completed including Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra on October 2.
