In a country where education is often seen as a race against time, one man from Rajasthan has redefined what it truly means to learn without limits. His extraordinary academic journey, achieved alongside a disciplined military career, is now making headlines across the nation.
Dasrath Singh, a resident of Khirod village in Jhunjhunu district, has claimed to have earned 138 degrees at the age of 55, setting multiple records in the field of education.
His achievements have been recognised by several prestigious record-keeping organisations, including the India Book of Records, Golden Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, and the International Book of Records.
FROM SERVING THE NATION TO SERVING KNOWLEDGE
Hailing from a humble farmer’s family, Singh joined the Indian Army in 1988 and served the nation for 16 years across various regions, including Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the demanding nature of military life, he remained deeply committed to his education.
He utilised his annual two-month leave to appear for examinations and continue his studies. After retiring from service in 2004, he devoted himself entirely to academics, transforming his passion into an unparalleled achievement.
A RECORD-BREAKING ACADEMIC JOURNEY
According to Singh, his academic portfolio includes three PhDs, seven undergraduate degrees, 46 postgraduate degrees, 23 diplomas, seven military studies qualifications, and 52 certificates. His degrees span diverse fields such as B.Com, LLB, LLM, BJMC, and B.Ed, among others.
He pursued his education through institutions like IGNOU, Jain University, and other reputed universities, steadily building a vast academic repertoire over the years.
OVERCOMING ODDS TO INSPIRE MILLIONS
Born into a financially constrained family, Singh completed his schooling up to Class 10 in a government school under challenging circumstances.
Despite financial and social hurdles, he remained determined to pursue higher education and never gave up on his dreams.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Singh has also served as a legal advisor in the Army’s Shakti Command and continues to assist serving and retired soldiers with legal matters.
His journey stands as a powerful testament to lifelong learning, discipline, and resilience—proving that age and circumstances are no barriers to education.
