IPhone 17e, MacBook Neo and 4 more: 6 Apple products going on sale in India today, details

Apple had a busy time last week. The Cupertino giant announced a bunch of new products, ranging from the affordable MacBook Neo to the high-end MacBook Pro models, as well as the new iPhone 17e. And now, these new devices are finally set to go on sale.

If you are looking to buy a new Apple device, here is everything you need to know about what’s in store from today. Do note, that pre-orders were open for all products in the past week.

1. MacBook Neo

The MacBook Neo was the highlight of Apple’s launches this month. The device is the most affordable MacBook in the company’s lineup, and caters to younger uses.

Instead of an M-series chipset, the Neo uses the A18 Pro SoC from the iPhone 16 Pro, albeit with one less GPU core. Though this should still provide adequate power for the average user. The MacBook Neo also comes with an aluminium build, with some vibrant colour options.

The device gets a 13-inch IPS panel. Apple claims that you can get up to 16 hours of battery life with the Neo. You also get a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones, and side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio support.

The MacBook Neo starts in India at Rs 69,900 for the 256GB variant. Do note that you get Touch ID support only with the 512GB variant that is priced at Rs 79,900. However, students can get Rs 10,000 off via Apple’s Education discount.

2. iPhone 17e

The iPhone 17e is the successor to the iPhone 16e, and is positioned as the most affordable new iPhone. The device does get some notable upgrades, including the A19 chipset from the vanilla iPhone 17. However, just like the MacBook Neo, the iPhone 17e also gets one less GPU core.

And finally, the iPhone 17e supports MagSafe, making it compatible with various magnetic accessories.

The Cupertino giant has used its C1X cellular modem in the iPhone 17e, which is claimed to be twice as fast as the C1 modem found in the iPhone 16e, as well as being more battery efficient.

However, the rest of the specs remain identical to last year. The iPhone 17e retains the notch on the display, and continues to have a single 48-megapixel rear camera.

The iPhone 17e starts in India at Rs 64,900. While this is higher than the iPhone 16e’s starting price of Rs 59,900, the iPhone 17e comes with double the storage in the base variant, at 256GB.

3. M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro

Apple has finally brought the M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets for the MacBook Pro. The company had already launched the M5 MacBook Pro late last year. As per Apple, the new processors are the most advanced chips for “pro laptops.”

The M5 Pro and M5 Max deliver big performance gains compared to last, as high as 30 per cent according to Apple.

There is also a big focus on running Large Language Models (LLMs) locally via Neural Accelerators. The company says that you can expect up to 4 times faster LLM processing compared to the M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets.

The MacBook Pro models will come in two screen sizes – 14 inches and 16 inches. Both displays are Liquid Retina XDR panels with up to 1600 nits of peak brightness.
The M5 Max model now starts with 1TB of storage, while the M5 Pro comes with 512GB storage in the base model. The rest of the specs remain identical to the M5 MacBook Pro.

The updated MacBook Pro lineup starts at Rs 2,49,900 for the 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip. The M5 Max chip variant starts at Rs 3,99,900.

4. New MacBook Air

The MacBook Air now gets the M5 chipset too. As per Apple, you can expect up to 4 times faster AI performance compared to the M4 version, and up to 9.5 times faster compared to the original M1 MacBook Air. The M5 chipset on the device comes with a faster 10-core CPU and a next-generation GPU.

The M5 MacBook Air comes with 512GB in the base model, with up to 4TB on offer. The new SSD is claimed to be up to 2 times faster compared to the previous generation. You can also expect better connectivity via Apple’s N1 wireless chip.

The MacBook Air comes in two screen sizes – 13 inches and 15 inches. The rest of the specs remain quite similar to the M4 version, but the new MacBook Air also gets a 12-megapixel centre stage selfie shooter.

The M5 MacBook Air starts at Rs 1,19,900 in India.

5. M4 iPad Air

The iPad Air has also been updated. The device now comes with the M4 chipset, boasting an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU. Apple claims that this should bring a performance bump of as high as 30 per cent compared to the M3 model.

The new iPad Air now features Apple’s N1 and C1X chips too, allowing for better connectivity and efficiency. The rest of the specs remain identical to last year, including a Liquid Retina display with up to 600 nits brightness, compatibility with Apple Pencil Pro, and a 12-megapixel rear camera.

The M4 iPad Air starts at Rs 64,900 in India.

6. Studio Display and Studio Display XDR

Along with MacBooks, iPads and iPhones, Apple also finally updated its display lineup for professionals. The company announced two Studio Display models – the base Studio Display and Studio Display XDR.

Both displays come with 27-inch 5K screens. However, the XDR model gets mini-LEDs as opposed to the IPS panel of the base model. This will allow the Studio Display XDR to provide better contrast with up to 2,000 nits HDR brightness. The XDR display also gets Adaptive Sync – the refresh rate can change between 47Hz to 120Hz.

The two displays get a 12-megapixel centre stage camera with Desk View, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.

The base Studio Display gets the A19 chipset from the iPhone 17, while the XDR model uses the A19 Pro SoC from the iPhone 17 Pro.

The Studio Display starts at Rs 1,89,900, while the Studio Display XDR carries a starting price of Rs 3,99,900.
