LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh T20 League is set to return for its fourth season, likely to begin in mid-Aug, with matches scheduled at two venues — Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
UP T20 League chairman Sanjay Kapoor told TOI that the league is aiming for a revamped, high-intensity season, with each franchise set to appoint a mentor.
“We plan to make the UP T20 League a mini-IPL. UP is the largest state in India with 25 crore population. The league wants to expand its reach across Uttar Pradesh and bring in star mentors to boost team morale and fan engagement,” he said.
Kapoor also dismissed speculation about the addition of two new franchises and said that the league would continue with six teams.
“The league is looking to extend the tournament’s duration beyond 15 days, with a proposed format of single header matches from Monday to Thursday and double-headers from Friday to Sunday,” he said.
