Video shows passengers raising hands as man is dragged off Southwest flight after security scare

A routine Southwest Airlines flight took a dramatic turn Friday night when a reported security threat forced the plane to make an unscheduled stop in Atlanta — and the tense moment was caught on camera.

Harrowing footage circulating online shows frightened passengers aboard Southwest Flight 2094 with their hands raised as police storm the cabin and forcibly remove a man from the aircraft after it diverted from its Nashville-to–Fort Lauderdale route, New York Post reported.

Southwest flight 2094 landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 9.06 pm after redirecting from its original flight path to Florida, the report said.

In a video posted to X, passengers on the flight raised their hands above their heads as the passenger was forcefully cuffed and dragged off plane by Atlanta police officers.

Southwest Airlines said in a statement that the aircraft was diverted in order to respond to a “possible security matter.”

It remained unclear what the passenger did or said to warrant the diversion and security response, and officials did not confirm whether any dangerous items were found on the aircraft, according to FOX5 Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department did not release the status of the detained passenger or whether they would face charges.
