CBSE Maths exam 2026: Can AI tools help students revise smarter?

The Central Board of Secondary Education Class 12 Mathematics board exam will be held on March 9, 2026, prompting students across the country to intensify their final round of revision.

As the pressure to perform builds, educators say many students are turning to artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning tools to solve problems, clarify concepts and analyse mistakes ahead of the exam.

Teachers note that such platforms can be particularly helpful in Mathematics, where students often struggle with visualisation and multistep problem-solving.

AI TOOLS HELPING STUDENTS REVISE COMPLEX MATHS CONCEPTS

“Chapters such as Differential Calculus, Vector Algebra and Three-Dimensional Geometry often require strong visual understanding and multistep problem-solving. AI tools help students visualise these concepts better and practise timed quizzes,”said Lakshi, PGT Mathematics at St Angels School, Rohini.

AI-based tools can help students simplify difficult concepts during last-minute preparation.

“They also allow learners to analyse mistakes instantly, which becomes extremely important when preparing for board exams,” she further added.

However, she emphasised that technology should complement, not replace, traditional study methods.

STEP-BY-STEP EXPLANATIONS IMPROVE CLARITY

Understanding the logic behind each step is crucial in Mathematics, especially during board exam preparation.

Breaking down complex problems into smaller steps can help students strengthen their conceptual clarity and avoid common mistakes.

“In topics such as Calculus, Matrices and Probability, students often need repeated practice and clarity in solving steps. AI tools allow them to practise multiple questions, understand solutions step-by-step and clear doubts quickly,”said Babita Manocha, TGT Mathematics at St Angels School, Rohini.

AI platforms can support students by providing detailed explanations and additional practice questions.

At the same time, she added that students must rely primarily on NCERT textbooks, sample papers and teacher’s guidance to build strong fundamentals.

AI-BASED MOCK TESTS AND PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS AID PREPARATION

Experts also highlight that AI platforms provide personalised practice and performance insights, which can help students focus on weak areas.

“These platforms provide instant feedback and even predictive analysis that helps identify topics where students require more revision. This is particularly helpful for chapters like Calculus, Probability, Algebra and Vectors, where conceptual clarity is crucial,” said Amit Bhatnagar, PGT Mathematics at Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh.

Many AI tools now offer large question banks, mock tests and performance analytics.

However, he advised students not to treat AI as a shortcut.

“AI should be used as a support tool. Students must continue practising from NCERT textbooks and previous years’ CBSE question papers, which remain the most reliable sources aligned with the board exam pattern,” he added.

AI LEARNING CAN ALSO REDUCE EXAM STRESS

Teachers also believe that AI tools can help students prepare at their own pace, making the learning process less stressful.

Preethi Rajeev Nair from Lancers Army Schools said that AI-driven platforms are gradually becoming effective learning companions for students preparing for board exams.

“With step-by-step explanations, personalised practice and smart revision support, students can revisit difficult topics easily. This helps build conceptual clarity and reduces exam stress, allowing them to prepare more confidently,” she explained.

TIPS FOR CBSE CLASS 12 MATHEMATICS EXAM PREPARATION

As the exam date approaches, teachers recommend a balanced strategy combining technology with traditional preparation methods:

  • Revise key chapters such as Calculus, Matrices, Probability and Vectors
  • Practise NCERT examples and exercise questions thoroughly
  • Solve previous years’ CBSE board papers and sample papers
  • Use AI tools for concept clarification and timed practice tests
  • Focus on understanding steps rather than memorising solutions

With just days left for the examination, educators say consistent practice, concept clarity and smart use of learning tools can help students approach the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics exam with confidence.
