Cambridgeshire Constabulary responded to reports of multiple stabbings at 7:39 pm local time. “Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital,” police confirmed.

Videos circulating on social media showed armed officers boarding the train during the operation.

Massive Emergency Deployment

The East of England Ambulance Service mobilized a large-scale response, sending numerous ambulances, critical care teams, and three air ambulances to Huntingdon Railway Station. The service confirmed transporting “multiple patients to hospital.”

An eyewitness reported seeing one suspect waving a large knife before being tasered by police during the arrest.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood expressed being “deeply saddened” by the incident and urged against speculation. She confirmed both suspects were “immediately arrested and taken into custody.”

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp described the event as “a brutal mass attack” and called for prompt updates from authorities.

Travel Disruptions

The incident caused significant travel disruptions, with roads into Huntingdon closed and London and North Eastern Railway services affected during the emergency response.

One passenger was heard saying, “They’ve got a knife, I’ve been stabbed,” describing panic as people fled through carriages.

Police continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.
