Claude Opus 4.7 is coming sooner than expected, already crashing Adobe and Figma stocks

Anthropic is reportedly working on the next version of Claude. After rattling SaaS stocks with Claude Cowork, it appears that the AI startup now has a new target – web design. And it seems that design companies are already feeling the heat.

As per a report by The Information, Anthropic’s next model, likely to be called Claude Opus 4.7, will be an AI-driven tool for web design and presentations. Following the report, stocks of design-focused companies such as Adobe and Figma have fallen by just over 2 per cent.

What is Claude Opus 4.7?

The report states that Anthropic’s new AI design tool is expected to cater to both technical and non-technical users. You will be able to create websites, presentations, landing pages, and product prototypes by giving simple prompts in natural language, without needing technical know-how.

Claude Opus 4.7 is expected to challenge existing products in the market, including those from startups like Gamma and Google’s AI design tool, Stitch.

When will Claude Opus 4.7 launch?

According to the report, Anthropic may announce Claude Opus 4.7 as early as later this week.

Companies like Figma, Wix, and GoDaddy, that allow users to create websites and design web pages, have suffered a fall in stock prices following the report. Investors may be fearing that Claude Opus 4.7 may automate web design, and severely impact the business models of such companies.

Adobe, another company that has seen its stock decline, is already facing pressure due to the rise of AI tools. Last month, its CEO Shantanu Narayen announced that he was stepping down after spending 18 years at the helm. At the time, Narayen stated that the company needed to prepare for a new wave of creativity led by AI. He said, “The next era of creativity is being written right now—shaped by AI, by new workflows and by entirely new forms of expression.”

This is not the first time that the AI startup has made waves in the stock market. A couple of months ago, the Claude Cowork tool raised fears of a SaaSpocalypse globally that impacted the stocks of various companies, including TCS, Wipro, and Infosys.

Will Opus 4.7 be more advanced?

Do note that Opus 4.7 is not going to be the company’s most advanced model. Last week, Anthropic launched Claude Mythos, which still holds that title. Mythos is apparently so powerful that the Dario Amodei-led firm is not planning for its general release. Instead, it is available to a select group of companies, such as Amazon and Microsoft, in an effort to bolster global cybersecurity.

Though Claude Opus 4.7 is expected to be more advanced than Claude Opus 4.6, the company’s most powerful AI model currently available to the public.
