Outage Scale and User Reports

Downdetector data showed the outage peaked in the morning with more than 7,000 reports. According to the tracking service, 63% of users reported streaming issues, while 30% faced problems with the YouTube app and 7% couldn’t access the website.

Users took to social media to report the disruption across multiple countries including the UK and Canada.

“Me rushing to Twitter to check if #YouTube is down for everyone or just my WiFi acting up 😭” noted one user on X.

“For me it plays the first half second of an ad, buffers for a few seconds, then does that over and over going through different ads,” noted a Reddit user.

“Something is up with YouTube right now. It does this on shorts and longform, both app and browser. Don’t know when it’ll be fixed,” another user chimed in.

Service Restoration Confirmed

YouTube officially acknowledged and resolved the outage through a post on X. The company confirmed that the streaming issues have been fixed across YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV.

“This issue has been fixed – you should now be able to play videos on YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV! ❤️” the company wrote

The quick resolution brought relief to millions of users who depend on the platform for entertainment, music, and television content daily.
