Agnikul Tests 3D-Printed Rocket Engines for Upcoming Launch

Agnikul Successfully Test Fires 3D-Printed Rocket Engines

Indian space startup Agnikul Cosmos has successfully conducted a simultaneous test firing of two fully 3D-printed, semi-cryogenic rocket engines, marking a crucial step toward its upcoming orbital mission.

Key Advancements in Engine Technology

The test involved firing two semi-cryogenic engines powered by electric pumps—a significant departure from traditional gas generator or turbopump systems. This electric pump-fed architecture allows precise software-based thrust control between engines.

The company’s proprietary Agnilet technology enables complete 3D printing of engines as a single piece, eliminating assembled joints. This innovation:

  • Streamlines manufacturing processes
  • Reduces potential leak points
  • Shortens engine production turnaround times

Preparing for Historic Launch

This successful test brings Agnikul closer to launching Agnibaan SOrTeD (Suborbital Technological Demonstrator), which will become India’s first rocket powered by a completely 3D-printed engine.

Operating from India’s first private launchpad and mission control center at Sriharikota, Agnikul is strengthening India’s position in the global small satellite launch market through advanced propulsion systems.
