Why is Scotty Pippen Jr. fined? Memphis Grizzlies guard hit with hefty penalty after on-court drama with Myron Gardner

Myron Gardner of the Miami Heat and Scotty Pippen Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies faced up in an unlikely matchup last Saturday at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Gardner stunned everyone by knocking down Pippen Jr. from behind with 1:55 remaining in the last quarter. This set off a chain of events that resulted in a significant fine for both players.

Following an argument on the floor during Saturday’s game, Pippen Jr. and Gardner were fined $35,000 by the NBA on Monday, the league reported. According to the NBA, Gardner received a fine for starting the fight. According to the announcement, Pippen pushed the case, which resulted in his fine.

They were both removed from the game after receiving technical fouls.

NBA hands fines to Scotty Pippen Jr. and Myron Gardner after heated fourth-quarter clash

Myron Gardner of the Miami Heat and Scotty Pippen Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies were each fined $35,000 by the NBA on Monday for fighting during a game over the weekend. The incident happened about two minutes into the competition. Gardner shoved Pippen down from behind after he attempted a shot.

When Pippen Jr. got up and raced across the court to confront Gardner, clearly agitated, the situation quickly got out of control.

He shoved him with both hands out of frustration, causing a fight to break out into the stands, shocking the fans and forcing the umpires to dismiss both players from the game.

The official notice read:

“Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. and Miami Heat forward Myron Gardner have each been fined $35,000 for their roles in an on-court altercation, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations…”

It continued:

“With 1:55 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 136-120 victory over the Grizzlies on Feb. 21 at Kaseya Center, Gardner initiated the incident by bumping Pippen from behind, causing Pippen to fall to the floor. Pippen further escalated the altercation by forcefully shoving Gardner in response. Both players were assessed technical fouls and ejected from the game…”

In an effort to break up the fight, players from both teams also ran over.

Pippen and Gardner were both given technical fouls and sent off the court after the altercation, which ended with the Heat winning 136-120.

Scotty Pippen Jr. and Myron Gardner move forward after fines as teams shift focus to season goals

In terms of their play this season, Myron Gardner has averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 28 games, while Scotty Pippen Jr. has been averaging 12.5 points and 4.8 assists in four games. Due to their importance to their teams, both players were conspicuously absent from the game.

Despite starting three of the Heat’s last seven games due to various injuries, Gardner, 24, has primarily played as a reserve this season. Gardner finished with six points in little over six minutes of action during Saturday’s victory.

This brawl marked the finish of the game, which saw the Miami Heat defeat the Grizzlies 136-120. Supporters hope that both athletes can move past this incident and concentrate on what matters most, the performance of their teams this season and the game on the court.

There are no upcoming regular-season games between the Grizzlies and Heat. The only possible rematch between the two teams would be in the NBA Finals, which is unlikely given the Grizzlies’ 21-34 record going into Monday’s games.
