North India to stay hot and dry on Monday, cool morning to bring respite

India is set to experience a peculiar shift in weather patterns tomorrow as cold north-westerly winds collide with a steady rise in day temperatures.

While the mornings will offer a brief, pleasant respite, the afternoon Sun is expected to get harsher across several regions.

WILL THE MORNINGS BE PLEASANT IN INDIA IN MARCH?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) states that a dry and cold north-westerly wind is gaining momentum.

Devendra Tripathi, founder of Mausam Tak and weather vlogger for Kisan Tak, notes that these winds will effectively clean the atmosphere.

He adds, “In many states and places, there will be a slight decrease in the morning temperature.”

This cooling effect will be felt in cities such as Nagpur, Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Gwalior, ensuring a pleasant start to the day.

HOW HOT WILL IT GET DURING THE DAY?

Despite the cool mornings, the mercury is on an upward trajectory.

The IMD warns that maximum temperatures will remain four to seven degrees Celsius above normal over many parts of Northwest India for the next five days.

Devendra Tripathi explains that the wind speed is expected to reach 20 to 25 kilometres per hour from Punjab to parts of Bihar.

He highlights a growing concern, stating, “The temperature range we are reaching at the beginning of March is becoming a cause for concern for people.”

IS RAIN EXPECTED ANYWHERE IN INDIA?

India’s weather office has forecast isolated light rainfall or snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir between March 4 and 7 due to a feeble Western Disturbance.

For Monday, March 2, the weather remains largely dry across most of the country, including the plains of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

However, light rain may occur in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Devendra Tripathi adds that while the Western Disturbance is not very effective, some clouds may appear over the frontier districts of Rajasthan and Punjab, as well as the coastal areas of Odisha and Kerala.
