PUSU polls: ABVP candidate files complaint over obscene posts

Anushka, the presidential candidate from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) elections, lodged a formal complaint at the cyber police station. The young aspirant alleged that she was bombarded with obscene photos and videos across social media platforms in what she described as a deliberate attempt to demoralise her and sabotage her campaign.

Speaking to reporters after filing the complaint on Tuesday, Anushka said, “I came to the cyber police station and lodged a complaint because obscene and dirty photos and videos are being sent to me on Facebook, Instagram, and all other social media.

Efforts are being made to break my morale. Some people are deliberately doing it. ” She claimed that she received threats of physical harm, including being shot, adding to the seriousness of the situation.

Anushka said the administration had promised swift action against those responsible. The candidate, who is contesting as a female representative in a male-dominated arena, pointed fingers at members of rival student organisations.

This came amid reports of her posters being torn down by opponents, further escalating tensions on campus. Despite the ordeal, Anushka remained resolute. “I am not afraid of these things,” she asserted, emphasising that the issue extended beyond her personal experience. “This is not just my problem; many students at PU complained about it to me. They do not lodge a complaint, considering their social standing and family decorum,” she said.

The controversy intensified when a video of Anushka breaking down in tears went viral on Monday. Explaining the emotional moment, she revealed that false rumours were being spread about her character, with individuals tagging her in derogatory posts.

The Patna cyber police said that the complaint had been received and that further investigation was underway.
